Candidacy for a judge of the European Court of Human Rights

The Commission of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia has confirmed that nine candidates who meet the prescribed conditions applied for the competition for a judge of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) from Serbia in Strasbourg .

In addition to the general conditions, candidates must also meet special conditions such as: having work experience in the legal profession for at least 12 years, being recognized legal experts who possess knowledge of the national legal system and international public law or European protection of human rights or international private law , that they possess a high level of knowledge of at least one official language of the Council of Europe (English and French).

The Ministry of Justice, on the basis of the commission's report, will submit to the Government of Serbia for consideration and decision the proposal of three candidates for the election of ECtHR judges.

Based on the previously received opinion of the Advisory Panel of Experts for the Selection of ECHR judges, the ECHR judge from the Republic of Serbia is chosen by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from among three candidates submitted by the Government of Serbia.

Among the nine candidates for the election of the ECHR judge from Serbia is Dr. Nebojša Stanković, attorney at law from www.stankovicandpartners.com
